Another single GT class in the American Le Mans Series and the Corvette Racing team will be taking to gold after throwing in the towel on the 2009 Championship. In planning some heavy revisions have been made to the racing car by introducing a new Chevrolet Corvette Racing C6.R GT2 which is based on the production ZR1. The new regulation means Corvette will be competing with the likes of Ferrari, BMW, Panoz, Ford, Porsche and Aston Martin.
The updated Corvette C6.R utilizes the ZR1’s body design, aerodynamic package, aluminum frame and chassis structure, steering system, windshield, and other components. The race team has prepared the cars for the rigors of endurance racing with safety and performance modifications as permitted by the GT2 rules.
